Artist Spotlight - WAK

WAK

“My work is inspired by life itself…it's like I'm opening myself up, admitting to my imperfections, my vices, my virtues, and from that comes my art. When I share that art, it's like a conversation I'm having with the world.”

Those are the enlightening words of our featured artist spotlight, Kevin A. Williams, professionally known as WAK, whose goal it is to take those who desire to go on a journey where more African-Americans will appreciate, own and even create fine art that honors their rich heritage and hope filled destiny. A long time EE affiliate, WAK's images grace several pages of our current catalogue, including, Give It All to God (page 12), Step Out on Faith I - Female (page 14), Step Out on Faith I – Male (page 47), Power of a Woman and Power of a Man (page 31), If This World Were Mine - Female and If This World Were Mine - Male (page 19), Step Out On Faith - Love (page 27), Take 5 (page 28) and Still I Rise (page 51). His collection of 50 lithograph prints – created under the “WAK Artistry” signature – is the most widely circulated urban fine arts series in the nation, and has gained the affections of such notables as talk show host Oprah Winfrey and the late actor/comedian Bernie Mac.

One of the most amazing facts about WAK is that he has received no formal training as an artist. Nonetheless, he has gained status as the best-selling artist in the African-American print market. He is a popular personality at national art shows, conferences of African-American groups and major international events, including the Essence Music Festival. His work has also been featured on NBC's Law & Order and Showtime's Soul Food .

Product Spotlight - Soul Food Feast

Whether it's the holiday season or a Sunday-after-church gathering, any occasion is a great reason to be with family. And, a good meal always makes these times more memorable. Katherine Roundtree's print on canvas, Soulfood Feast (page 62), really captures the love and joy that comes from the family. Full of amazing detail, Katherine has placed a smile on each family member's face, as they anxiously await Grandma's famous rolls that are coming fresh from the oven. This wonderful representation would look great in a dining room. It's 23” x 34” and gives you an option of a gold frame or a wood-tone frame with gold accents.

Consultant Spotlight: Rose Mapp

Rose Mapp

Our consultant spotlight features Rose Mapp of Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . Rose did $5,511 in sales in June and earned herself nearly $1,400 in income. She was able to produce those sales in just four shows. Rose says that her shows usually average about 3.5 hours from the time she arrives until the time she leaves. That means that Rose earned around $100 per hour in June.

Speaking about her business, Rose says , “I initially got into Ethnic Expressions to take advantage of the FREE trips they offer and to supplement my income.  With the extra money I was earning, I was able to purchase a new car. In fact, my EE income paid the car note and the insurance, which I would not have been able to afford without the extra income.  Recently, like many Americans, I was laid off from my full time job. But unlike many, I had the blessing of having a small, profitable EE business to fall back on. It has truly been my “diamond in the rough. I love my business! Not only am I meeting some wonderful people, I'm making money and having fun all at the same time!  Who could ask for more?”
